Eden (エデン, Eden) is the wife of Undertaker and Maria, Rosalie, Xander, Anastasia, Max and Camilla’s mother.

Appearance[]

Eden has waist length, platinum blonde, wavy hair with her fringe parted to the left and bright green, round eyes that lack pupils. She has pale skin and stitching scars on her left hand. She wears a dark purple, simple dress, black buckled heeled boots and a black cloak which is just above her ankles in length. She wears the cloak to block her eyes from view as her distinctive eyes and hair make her recognisable to other Shinigami. She also wears black gloves and her wedding ring, a simple silver band in the Luxury Liner Arc.

At Sebastian’s funeral, Eden wears a ruffled black dress and her regular cloak and boots.

In her disguise as the principal’s wife, she wears a dark grey dress with a medium sized bow on the back and ruffled sleeves with a gold necklace and a black lace headdress which blocks her eyes from view. She also painted her nails pink.

In her appearances when she was young, she first wears a dark dress with her cloak and black boots with laces on them. Her older appearance has her in a simple dress with a white sash on it, her cloak, dark boots with laces and a ring on her finger and a skull pendant on a ribbon around her left wrist.

Personality[]

Eden is a very secretive lady who is polite and respectful to all people she meets. She wants the people she cares about to be happy and wants to be helpful to others. She is rather bad-tempered and rude which results in her being very loud and easily jumps to physically threatening others. She is the type to laugh at other’s distress and in the anime, Lau remarks how she comes off as a “bad girl type” She is also a very loving lady and attracts small children and is good at taking care of them, despite stating that she’s not that fond of them. She values her children above anything and is fascinated by children’s innocence and the naïveté of humans in general. Not unlike her husband, she loves a good joke and has a matching macabre sense of humour. She has immense trust in her husband, trusting him to protect her and their children and also trusts Rosalie well enough to allow her to refuse her help in escaping the Campania.

She endlessly pursues the happiness of an unknown lady that she cares about. She wants this woman to be happy above all else.

History[]

Eden was a famed criminal when she was younger and became infamous in the Shinigami Realm.

Not long after Undertaker’s prowess as a Grim Reaper was recognised, she began to date Undertaker. They used to hang out together a lot after dark and went to graveyards a lot and danced together under the moon in a forest not far from the town that they lived in. Soon after, Undertaker proposed to her and they married quickly. Unbeknownst to anybody but them, Eden was a chaotic freedom fighter for Shinigami with disabilities who would stop at nothing to get the law to change so that people like her weren’t persecuted for their existence. The acts that she committed for this goal made her a famed criminal among Shinigami. Her husband, on the other hand, was experimenting with human and Shinigami souls in hopes of finding a way to revive the dead, a severe crime in the Shinigami Realm. During this time, Eden worked many small jobs to help her husband and later, her family.

The couple went on to have twin girls, Maria and Rosalie and then a son, Xander. It is not known how or why, but Maria and Rosalie discovered their parents’ illegal activities and began to help in covering their tracks and experimenting. It is implied that they were unwilling to do this, but the exact circumstances are unknown.

Eden then gave birth to another girl, Anastasia. Everyone saw them as a fairly normal family, if a little secretive. Maria got accepted into the local Grim Reaper Academy and began her training. She said that she wanted to explore the human world, but her parents may have made her get in to help with their misdeeds.

About seventy years ago. Eden’s identity was revealed to the police, which led them to find out about Undertaker’s experiments on the dead and the fact that Maria and Rosalie had been made to conspire with them. After a fight in which all of the enforcement officers died, they all disappeared from the realm.

Ten years after this, Grim Reapers found the family again. They attempted to reason with the children but were prevented from doing so by their parents. The children wouldn’t listen and became angry, resulting in Rosalie being struck with the energy from a scythe. Apparently, the children were certain that they wanted to hurt their parents, who, in their eyes, were doing the right thing and take their baby brother, Max, away from them.

It is known that she had some manner of strong relationship with Claudia Phantomhive and that she was one of Vincent Phantomhive’s Aristocrats of Evil alongside her husband.

After Ciel runs away from Vincent Phantomhive and Diedrich’s meeting, he runs into Eden by accident and apologises to her. He falls quiet and backs away upon being intimidated by Undertaker and Eden picks him up, chastising her husband for mistaking him for his brother. She turns to Ciel and says not to worry about it and that he even mixed Maria and Rosalie up when they were very young. “Ciel” then appears and starts to get irritated at Ciel for running off without him but then notices Undertaker and Eden and greets them politely. Eden giggles to herself and holds Ciel tighter, making him blush, while she greets “Ciel” and Undertaker says that he can just be a child around them. The brothers are both confused but “Ciel” nods anyway. Pitt then appears and greets them all and Eden puts Ciel down so that she can curtsy to him. Ciel and “Ciel” follow suit, trying to manage a proper bow, but failing and being irritated when Undertaker and Eden giggle to themselves. Pitt then asks for a photo of the twins and Eden appears to reminisce about getting her family’s photo taken and is asked to help set up the background. The photo is taken and Eden wonders about seeing a copy for herself after they’re developed. Ciel turns to look at her and smiles fondly and Eden notices him and returns the gesture, as Ciel recalls that Eden was an adult he could always rely on.

At a later point, Ciel happens upon Eden, who is looking down on Elizabeth, Margaret, Edward and “Ciel” playing together. Ciel calls to her, making her jump and asks why she’s not downstairs too. Eden says that she gets the feeling that she’s not exactly welcome there and cites Paula and Tanaka as already taking care of them all. Ciel looks at her and laughs, saying that she does say some funny things sometimes and moves next to her. Eden tells him that she’d like for her children to be able to play with them too and that all of them are so wonderful. Ciel blushes and gets embarrassed at the compliment and Eden giggles to herself. Ciel says that he likes hearing about her children and Eden takes him away from the window and asks if he wants to see a photo of them. Ciel agrees fervently but she says that he must not tell Vincent Phantomhive that she allowed him to see it. Ciel looks concerned but lets her show it and she pulls out a photo of Maria and Rosalie together. Ciel asks if they’re really twins and Eden confirms this, saying even twins change over time and says that they looked the same at their age as well, both with long hair and light dresses in the same style and even wearing the same type of shoes. Eden doesn’t agree that the twins should have matching outfits and it only happened in her family because they made all of their own clothes. Ciel confesses that part of him doesn’t like that and Eden looks pensive, likely recalling something about Maria and Rosalie. Eden assures him that he can become his own person whenever he likes and Ciel smiles and thanked her.

Plot[]

Red Butler Arc[]

Eden appears with Xander, who greets Ciel politely from the back of the shop with a hammer in a ribbon tied around her waist and greets them all fondly. She and Undertaker invite their visitors to sit on the coffins and Eden distributes tea to them. Undertaker guesses correctly that Ciel wishes to gain additional knowledge about the Jack the Ripper case.

Undertaker informs them that there is a certain commonality among all the murdered prostitutes, but he demands compensation before he will reveal the crucial detail. When Lau asks him how much money he wants, Undertaker vigorously approaches him and Anastasia tells him that Undertaker nor Eden care for Queen Victoria's money. Eden and Undertaker then state that they only have one requirement: show them a "first-rate laugh"—in other words, make them laugh hysterically, which is a common trait that they hold dear.

Subsequently, Lau fails to elicit a laugh with his joke, and Angelina starts to tell a vulgar story, only to have Eden chastise her for saying such things in the presence of children and forcibly taping her mouth shut. Lau and Angelina are seated on a coffin, both of their mouths having been taped shut and they are sulking with Eden powerfully glaring at Angelina and Undertaker concludes that Ciel is the only one left to make them laugh.

However, Sebastian intervenes, signalling that it is his turn. He requests the rest of them to step outside and forbids them from peeking in. Sebastian manages to deliver an impressive joke that sends Undertaker, Eden, Xander and Anastasia into a wild fit of laughter. Afterwards, with Xander congratulating Sebastian on his jokes and Eden forgetting where she is for a second, the parents agree wholeheartedly to tell them whatever they want to know.

Undertaker then reveals that Jack the Ripper's victims are all women prostitutes and are missing most of their internal organs-most notably their ovaries; as it is his hobby to take out the organs for research—which causes Lau, Angelina, and Grell to be wary of their drinks that could have potentially stored a kidney—he was able to discover this important fact. Eden silently takes offense to their wariness and he adds that the organs are removed with such precision that only a medical professional could have committed the crimes, and that the victims are whereby former prostitutes with their uteri specifically removed. After relaying the information, Undertaker tests Ciel's resolve, and Eden teases him a little but Ciel ascertains that he will not be afraid, and that he will solve all mysteries.

After the murders are solved, at the outside boundaries of an occupied church, three siblings, a girl and two boys wonder what’s happening = inside the church and begin to argue when none of them know what’s going on. Eden invites the children closer and informs them that Angelina Dalles’ funeral is taking place inside. At the cemetery, Eden has prepared a proper burial for Jack the Ripper's final victim, under Ciel's orders. Ciel and Sebastian are surprised to find Eden and Undertaker conducting some kind of religious ceremony at Mary-Jane’s grave and wait for them to finish. Eden seems surprised upon spotting Ciel and says that Ciel is kind for giving a nameless prostitute her own grave, but Ciel dismisses the claim, as he had put catching the killer as his priority rather than saving her life. Eden asks if he regrets letting Angelina, his own aunt, die, but Ciel denies it, saying that he does not, because with the killer gone, Queen Victoria can be at ease. Undertaker and Eden comment that they dislike the Queen because she leaves the "painful, dirty" work for Ciel to complete. Ciel replies that it is the fate his family has been burdened with, and he has inherited it with his ring. Undertaker retorts that the ring acts like a collar, connecting Ciel and the Queen with a chain called "karma." Ciel tells him that he was the one who decided to the put the collar around his own neck, and Eden takes him forcibly by the collar, towering over him and warns him that it may tighten to choke him one day, leaving Ciel speechless. Then, as they take their leave, they tell Ciel and Sebastian that they can stop by their parlour any time.

Circus Arc[]

Ciel and Sebastian visit their funeral parlour again, this time to find out if any of the children abducted by the Noah's Ark Circus have shown up dead. Having had Maria and Rosalie meet Ciel and Sebastian, Undertaker insists on receiving their first-rate laugh first, and Eden challenges Ciel to personally deliver him it himself. Ciel takes quite a deal of time, but at last, Ciel manages to accomplish that, albeit using an implicitly embarrassing method that seems to have shocked Rosalie.

Undertaker then reveals that none of the children are his "clients", and that Eden nor he have heard any rumours from the underworld companies. Ciel believes that he has been deceived by them, but Maria denies the assumption, pointing out that the nonexistence of the children's corpses serves as a great clue: it is indicative that the children are still alive. Ciel begins to leave but Rosalie calls for him and makes him promise that the children will be safe and he agrees to her promise. Ciel and Sebastian leave and Eden tells Ciel to keep his soul safe, as he only has one.

Several days later, Undertaker and his family observe them burning of Baron Kelvin's manor from afar. Rosalie mumbles about Ciel’s lie and says that he tarnishes his family’s name while Eden and Undertaker play with lockets. (On one locket, there is a date and a name engraved: 13 July 1866, Claudia P.) Undertaker says that he had warned Ciel to hold every soul dear, and he states that Ciel will understand the importance of things that cannot be recovered once it is too late. Eden says that his time comes near again and gain and that he is “as stubborn as those before him” and that he “really is a dog” in her eyes. Maria wonders aloud what could be so important to risk your life for a monarch and Xander says he doesn’t understand either and wonders whether they’ll ever know why “they” do this. They then all smile and Anastasia say he never really did care for anything but that ring and Undertaker and Eden ask Ciel if that’s correct and Xander, Anastasia, Max and Camilla all giggle forebodingly, the light of the fire illuminating their faces and their glowing chartreuse phosphorescent or bright green eyes in Eden and Camilla’s case, are seen in the night.

Phantomhive Manor Murders Arc[]

After Charles Grey and Charles Phipps deliver a letter from Queen Victoria to Ciel Phantomhive, Ciel tells Sebastian to contact Lau as well as Undertaker and Eden. Through them, Ciel is able to confirm that Karl Woodley has committed a heinous crime.

Later, Undertaker provides a safety coffin for Sebastian's funeral. Undertaker, Eden and all of their children, save Max and Camilla, attend his funeral. When a bell installed in it rings, Eden informs Ciel, Elizabeth Midford, Soma Asman Kadar, Agni, and the servants of the Phantomhive household that that means Sebastian is still alive. They dig him back up, and Undertaker and Eden tell them to come back any time.

Luxury Liner Arc[]

On April 17, 1889, Undertaker, Eden, Rosalie, Maria, Xander and Anastasia board the Campania. Three days later, they attend an Aurora Society meeting. They all burst out laughing when they see Ciel Phantomhive performing the Phoenix pose. When Sebastian Michaelis asks Eden why they are there, Eden explains that the Karnstein Hospital is a regular customer of theirs. Ciel presses them for more information, but Undertaker and Eden refuse to give it unless Ciel performs the pose again. Ciel and Sebastian are, then, distracted by Aleistor Chamber.

The meeting, which is headed by Rian Stoker, commences, but soon develops into a disaster when Margaret Connor is revived as a Bizarre Doll, who then kills her mother and attacks the other attendees, most of which flee from the scene. Undertaker, protecting Eden leaves with them, as well.

Later, Aleistor has Undertaker and Eden, along with a few others, carry Rian's device, which can supposedly render the Bizarre Dolls inactive. They encounter Ciel and Sebastian in the first-class passenger hallway, and Undertaker is amused when Ciel performs the Phoenix pose again. When Ciel asks Eden how to activate the device, Eden states that she does not know and that she does not see how the device will be of any help.

At the first-class passenger lounge, Aleistor orders them to set down the device. Rian Stoker, Grell Sutcliff, and Ronald Knox arrive. Soon after, Bizarre Dolls invade the area, but Aleistor is not willing to activate the device unless they pledge their loyalty to him. When Ronald, Grell, Sebastian, and Ciel express their desire to kill him, Eden reminds them about the device. They then, including Undertaker and Eden, perform Aleistor's version of the Phoenix pose. Subsequently, Aleistor tries to activate the device, only to realize that it does not work; Undertaker and Eden laugh hysterically. Appalled, Rian asks Undertaker and Eden if they has fooled him.

An exasperated Grell attempts to kill Aleistor, but Undertaker stops her, to everyone's surprise. Undertaker says that he does not want to lose the highly amusing Aleistor and acknowledges Grell as a Grim Reaper. Grell is stunned that her Death Scythe was unable to cut through Undertaker, who shoots his sotoba at Grell. Subsequently, Undertaker lifts his bangs, revealing his chartreuse phosphorescent eyes.

Sebastian, Grell, and Ronald realize that Undertaker is a Grim Reaper. Eden asserts that it has been half a century since someone last called him one and Grell realises that she is most likely a Grim Reaper as well and rushes at her, trying to tear her hood down while Eden frantically protests. Grell eventually succeeds and it’s revealed that Eden’s eyes are pure bright green instead of chartreuse phosphorescent. Grell and Ronald seem to recognise her and are shocked by her appearance and Eden muses about how she is still viewed negatively in the Grim Reaper world and grumbles about how boring it was that her identity was revealed. Anastasia and Xander then drop from a higher level, their hair having been restyled to show their eyes as well. Rian approaches them all, demanding answers, and Xander glares at Rian and Anastasia laughs maliciously and discloses the fact that they was simply using Rian, who does not qualify as a doctor, in their perspective, to a disheartened Rian and calls it her best joke yet. Xander says that they found it funny that a human was trying to reanimate the dead and tells him that he was the perfect person to kick-start their parents’ plan. Rian asks about their plan and Anastasia tells him it was only his plan and tells him how he always believed in them an thanks him for believing in them before bursting into laughter. Ciel deduces that Undertaker is the mastermind behind the Aurora Society's human resurrection experiments, and Eden confesses to her family making the Bizarre Dolls, claiming that they owe Ciel information for doing the Phoenix pose. Ciel inquires if she’s saying she wasn’t involved with this and Ede asserts that she would have been if she was able but then highlights her different, pure bright green eyes and tells Ciel that she can’t look at Cinematic Records without causing herself maddening pain. Undertaker describes his previous life as a Grim Reaper and his curiosity toward humans, which led him to edit their Cinematic Records in order to achieve a "continuation" after death. Eden has Grell inspect one of the Bizarre Dolls' Cinematic Records for them to see for themselves. Xander explains that Bizarre Dolls seek other people's souls because they lack their own; they were unable to create souls, even after tampering with the Records, and, thus, Anastasia explains that they named the corpses Bizarre Dolls, as they are not exactly living but are not dead either. When Ciel condemns it, Xander says that someone like him is incapable of understanding the marvels of science behind it.

Undertaker takes a female Bizarre Doll into his hands and dances with her while telling Ciel that they are far more beautiful than when they were alive because they cannot “nosily clamour or tell lies any longer.” Eden, suddenly jealous of the lady, forces her out of her husband’s grasp and stabs her in the head, telling him not to flirt with another woman, as she’s the only one for him. Undertaker agrees, then holding Eden close and telling her that their beauty doesn’t come close to hers, and calling her his, “Black Rose”. Eden giggles and mumbles something into Undertaker’s chest, likely his real first name.

Undertaker asserts that there are humans interested in employing Bizarre Dolls as animal weapons, for they do not feel pain or fear and eat the living. Xander adds that those humans wanted to test the effectiveness of Bizarre Dolls; therefore, an experiment was conducted on the Campania, with the same amount of humans and Bizarre Dolls together in one place, to see how many will survive on each end. Undertaker admits that he did not expect for them to crash into an iceberg; because he is no longer working as Grim Reaper, he does not have the soul retrieval list. Eden adds that he, at least, does not have to go through the trouble of sinking the ship himself, and points out that, due to their interference, a lot more humans survived than anticipated.

Grell and Ronald resolve to detain Undertaker, who is a "deserter." and his wife who is a criminal among Grim Reapers. They attack them, but Maria intervenes and they are unsuccessful. Sebastian intervenes as well, stating that he must capture Undertaker and the children, as Ciel must present them to Queen Victoria, but permits them to do whatever they like with Eden. The two teams prepare to vie for them. Eden compares it to the days of her youth and Undertaker compares it to a rabbit hunt and wonders aloud which rabbit is being hunted. Sebastian, Grell, and Ronald simultaneously lunge at Undertaker, but are blocked by Rosalie, which Eden is not fond of.

Eden kicks Ronald's face, and Grell throws Ronald's glasses back to its rightful owner, but Sebastian prevents Ronald from catching them with his tableware. Sebastian, then, aims for Undertaker; however, he and Eden easily stops the knives and Eden asks whether Sebastian thinks that he will be able to take them down with tableware. Sebastian claims that while it may not be as good as a Death Scythe, it has top-grade sharpness.

Maria and Rosalie taunt the three of them. Ronald, who has gotten back his glasses, and Grell agree to a head-on attack, as they are running out of time, but are unable to cut Undertaker's sotoba. Grell maintains that there should be nothing a Death Scythe cannot cut. Eden tells them that there is one thing a Death Scythe cannot cut, and Undertaker slashes Grell and Ronal with his own Death Scythe, which he had smuggled out with him when he quit being a Grim Reaper. Rosalie declares that they will hunt them now, and runs forward with Maria as Undertaker destroys one of the pillars on the ship, which falls on Grell and Ronald. Rian struggles to his feet and askes Anastasia if everything she told him about herself and her family was a lie, a flashback then being shown of Rian listening to Anastasia with a distressed expression, Anastasia nodding and looking sombre in a different outfit, but, most notably, wearing glasses and Rian looking determined with the dialogue blanked out and Xander abrasively asks if anything gets into his skull aside from his delusion. Rian then take out a knife and lunges at the pair but Anastasia blocks him and holds him by his neck against a wall and asks him if he thought it would be that easy to take them down. She then tells him he has out lived his use and stabs him three times, wrenching the blade of her weapon before finally letting him down, now dead. Sebastian lunges at her and she dodges him and Sebastian notes that he didn’t expect Anastasia of all people to be that savage and Anastasia giggles that everyone has said that to her since that time.  Sebastian then briefly fights the duo, Anastasia swinging her weapon at him, which he dodges and blocks. Xander comes in and takes out Rian’s knife and jumps to distract him from Anastasia. They take turns dodging and trying to hit each other until Anastasia suddenly jumps between them and slashes Sebastian’s arm. Sebastian is about to retaliate but realises that Undertaker and Eden are getting close to Ciel, who calls out for him. Sebastian hurls tables at them, and Undertaker and Eden effortlessly cut through them, but soon realizes that it is merely a diversion; Sebastian appears behind Undertaker, saying that he just wanted to get within the wide reach of the Death Scythe. Maria and Rosalie turn around but then Rosalie’s necklace is damaged and they turn again to Ronald. Eden affirms that Sebastian's way of thinking is interesting, and says that she will also do something interesting. She, then, takes Ciel as her hostage and presses her blade to his neck, to Ciel's and Sebastian's shock. She tells Ciel that she can finally kill him herself while pressing her blade to his neck enough to make him bleed. Sebastian lunges at Eden unexpectedly and she jumps back at first and brings Ciel with her. When it looks like Sebastian is going to reach her and tear into her, Undertaker slashes the front of Sebastian’s chest with his Death Scythe and pulls Eden close to him, saying he thought Sebastian knew better than to try and hurt his “Black Rose” and Eden loses her grip on Ciel, who falls from the bannister and runs to Sebastian. Undertaker, who has always been curious about Sebastian's motives, watches Sebastian's Cinematic Record and the children all gather around.

Sebastian’s record finishes playing and Maria, standing over Ciel and Sebastian, says that she knew Sebastian would be able to save Ciel, and adds that while his Record is interesting, he only makes Ciel miserable which consequently, makes her parents miserable, and, so, she will kill him. But, before she can take the shot, the Campania begins to sink and tilt heavily, Undertaker grabs hold of something, telling Eden to hold on tightly to him, while Eden wonders if it’s that time already, Anastasia grabs onto a pillar and Xander grabs hold of her weapon and Maria loses her balance and falls into a pillar, bleeding from her head while Rosalie calls out for her and dives to her. Grell attacks Anastasia and Xander, while Ronald fights Eden. Anastasia recognizes Grell as Angelina Dalles' butler, and comments that Grell also tampered with lives. Grell calls her nosy and refuses to leave, even after Xander points out that time is almost up for them. Eden throws Ronald at Grell, and they crash. Water starts flooding in, and Undertaker decides that it is time for them to leave. Sebastian and Grell both attack them all, and Undertaker and Eden dodge, but Maria and Rosalie are knocked aside and Undertaker drops his chain of lockets, which Ciel grabs. He decides to leave his "treasure" with Ciel and tells him to keep it safe. Eden seems to want to take Rosalie and Maria with them but Rosalie asserts that she and Maria will be fine and she reluctantly trusts them. He, then, bids Ciel farewell, and slices the ship in half with his Death Scythe, disappearing in the process.

Public School Arc

After turning the deceased Derrick Arden into a Bizarre Doll, Undertaker takes on the persona of the headmaster of Weston College. He lets Johann Agares speak for him to avoid suspicion. On the day of the cricket tournament, he brings Eden with him as his partner and they manage to elude Sebastian upon pursuit. When they are in the stairwell and it looks as if Sebastian is about to catch them, the principal’s partner turns and giggles, shocking Sebastian as he recognises her voice as Eden’s and they disappear, leaving only a jacket and a shawl as a trace.

At the midnight tea party, Derrick is revealed to be a Bizarre Doll and bites Herman on the arm. Sebastian successfully subdues Derrick with the tablecloth and all eyes are on the principal’s wife, who is laughing hysterically at the scene. Sebastian, having reached a conclusion, tells the to drop this act and Eden agrees to happily, grabbing her cloak and clasping it around her neck and brushing her hairnet to one side. She kneels on the table with Undertaker, having revealed his eyes and hair, smirking behind her. Ciel explains the truth about Sebastian and his attendance at Weston College to the others as the prefects treat Herman’s arm. Ciel demands answers and Eden asks the boys to tell him the truth. Herman tells Ciel that they just wanted to protect the school and its traditions. Lawrence tells him that St. George had o slay a dragon to protect England and so the four boys set out to murder Derrick, who had been manipulating others and defying the school’s rules, values and traditions. In the flashback to the night of the murder, the prefects are staring down at the body. Gregory confirms that Derrick is dead and Herman starts to break down, saying it’s all his fault but Edgar reassures him, saying that they had no choice but to kill him. Lawrence agrees, but then asks what they’re going to do now, as Herman will take the blame if anyone were to find out what happened. Edgar says that he has an idea and calls on The Aurora Society. Rian introduces himself to Edgar and he asks about a group of people in the carriage, saying he feels as though a child is peering at him inside. Someone laughs inside the carriage, telling him that he is sorely mistaken. Two people step out of the carriage and the person says that they are only children in body and the duo is revealed to be Anastasia and Xander in disguise. Anastasia steps down from the carriage, taking her brothers arm and curiously, she introduces herself not as Anastasia, but as Nova Patterson. Edgar introduces himself as well and then she demands for her and everybody else to be shown to his friends. Rian, despite not being aware that she wanted to interact with them, suggests that he complies, noting her as a demanding young lady, so Edgar takes them all to meet his friends.

Rosalie concludes to the boys that the reason that they requested their help was because they killed Derrick, his friends and the Vice-Principal in a rage and now they wish to undo what has happened and they all affirm this. Eden laughs to herself and muses about young humans being capable of such things too and marvels at their chaotic nature, stating there’s still so much she doesn’t know about humans and Rosalie tells them that they’ve all agreed to help them, but whispers in Herman’s ear that their sins will never be forgiven, nor can their actions truly be undone. Herman tells her that he doesn’t care about that as long as they can bring Derrick back and she hums at him, calling him a “curious creature indeed”.

Back in the present day, Herman mumbles that the words that Rosalie put into his head have been driving him mad ever since. Edgar and Gregory are surprised that he feels the same and Lawrence recognises his actions as awful but asks Ciel if he thinks that it’s okay to kill someone for your beliefs. Ciel begins to condemn their actions before Eden cuts him off, asking how brilliant it is that humans would do such cruel things. Sebastian agrees with them. On the other hand, Ciel notices the difference between the previous corpses they have encountered from Derrick Arden as a Bizarre Doll. Undertaker is delighted by the Earl's observation. Undertaker replies that he will tell him since he has been paid his fee. He states that he has discovered that even the dead can evolve. They have their dreams of the future; this compels them to move forward. Ciel demands to know what he plans to achieve by bringing the dead back to life. Undertaker answers that he wants to know what comes after the predetermined end but Eden becomes cold and folds her arms, spitting that it’s none of his business why they are doing this, suggesting he was lying. As Ciel starts, Sebastian holds onto his arm. Eden asserts that there might be interesting developments lurking behind the "end credits." Sebastian then interrupts that this where they disagree—because death is such a hopeless and definite end, that is why it is beautiful. After hearing Sebastian's response, Undertaker is silent and looks down, his eyes obscured. Eden suddenly slams her fist on the table and flares up and asks if it is as beautiful as he claims, why does it cause such destruction to the minds of those left behind? She says that if “she” never had to say goodbye to “them”, she wouldn’t have to watch “her” suffer anymore and points her blade at Sebastian and asks if he wants to experience his “so called “beautiful end” ” himself. Ciel orders Sebastian to capture them, but Johann comes to Undertaker's defence as he grabs Eden, who is now tearful with rage and pulls her to his chest suddenly, telling her to stop this. Sebastian comments that he knew it—Agares is also a Bizarre Doll. Undertaker proclaims that Agares was his masterpiece. Derrick's friends suddenly surround the other boys and Ciel yells at everyone to get out of the garden.

Meanwhile, Sebastian stares at Undertaker and Eden, asking them if they think this Doll is enough to hold him they are really underestimating him. Undertaker suddenly also loses his smile and replies that he is not underestimating him—they just have completely different goals. Sebastian pieces together their plan quickly and Eden breaks from her husband’s grasp and suddenly rushes forward, screaming, and Sebastian notices her venom-coloured eyes and knows that she is past listening to reason and knows that he can only fight her in retaliation. Sebastian is startled by Eden’s blurring movements and struggles to keep up with her frantic attacks and blurring pace. Eden then slashes Sebastian’s front with her blade, causing him to fall to the table in pain. Eden proclaims to him that she won’t stop fighting until she’s drenched in his blood and roars in a beast-like manner. She sees Ciel out of the corner of her eye while running towards him and suddenly dodges him and grabs Ciel, who tries to call for Sebastian, but Eden clamps her hand over his mouth. Undertaker joins her side and asks the earl if he wants to see something that would make everything better for him as he struggles. Eden smiles at him and simpers that he’ll be so happy with them Sebastian rushes at them all and he knocks them both away and catches Ciel. Undertaker dodges and lands on the wall but Eden falls off of the other side and lands on her side. Undertaker rushes to her and Sebastian and Ciel stand on the wall, daring them to escape this time. Undertaker holds Eden tight and she yells at him while struggling. Undertaker says that he refuses to let anything like that happen to her again and she continues to yell at him to let her go and they suddenly teleport away, leaving Sebastian and Ciel confused on the wall.

Blue Cult Arc

At the foyer of Phantomhive Manor, Ciel and Sebastian meet "Ciel." Ciel recalls his past. "Ciel" laughs, promises not to scold him for his lies, and states that he is back. Ciel shakes, certain that he has seen "Ciel" die with his own eyes. Sebastian tells "Ciel" he would not be there, if "Ciel" had not lost his life that night. Undertaker and Eden appear, and Undertaker reveals that he rescued "Ciel"'s body from the fire that night because he would no be able to restore him, if he were burnt to ashes. When Sebastian questions his motives, Eden says that they simply couldn’t stand it, much to everyone’s confusion. She then elaborates, saying that to lose another Phantomhive would just be torture for her family.

After “Ciel” told his twin where he was and what he was doing in the past years, Grell Sutcliff bursts through a window. She is followed by Othello, who comes through the front door and announces that it’s time for them to be punished. Eden seems to disdainfully recognise Othello and asks if he’s done enough to interfere with them already. Othello explains that he heard about them from William and comments on how curious the family’s experiments are. Eden asks what the occasion is for him to emerge from darkness and Othello says that Undertaker’s “childish tricks” have gone too far and the racket means he can’t pursue his research and that he’s come to punish those who’ve disturbed him. He then unsuccessfully tries to throw his scythe at them, sending Undertaker into a fit of laughter while Eden notes that she is somewhat disappointed, but not at all surprised at his weakness. Undertaker gets to his feet and asks Othello to stop, saying that he won’t be dissected by him just yet and Eden taunts Grell, telling her to leave her sight and saying that she seriously annoys her by shamelessly flirting with her husband. Grell rushes forward and Undertaker protects them both with his scythe. Sebastian throws silverware at them which is blocked by Grell and Undertaker and Grell playfully flirts with Sebastian while he rushes forward and says that he will catch them both this time. “Ciel” chides him for asking them to leave and Scotland Yard burst in, accompanied by Alexis Midford and Edward Midford. Fred Abberline informs them that they’ve received an anonymous tip that the mastermind behind the Sphere Music Hall is at the manor. “Ciel” explains that Ciel has been acting in his stead as he was unable to return home and Edward asks if he’s telling the truth and Elizabeth, pointing to Ciel, confirms this, calling him a liar.

Othello tells Grell everything he knows about Undertaker and his family, detailing the change in both Undertaker and Eden after their marriage and wondering if he could’ve stopped them if he found out about Eden’s identity. He tells Grell how they met and got married and had children and how they suddenly disappeared and were never heard of again. He swears that Eden was the catalyst for all of this and vows to save her family from her.

Undertaker, Eden and Anastasia listen to “Ciel” tell Francis and Alexis about why he was missing for a year and how the family treated him and saved his life. Ciel points out Undertaker and his family to Francis. And Undertaker greets her with a tip of his hat, Eden silently waves at them and Anastasia greets Francis with her hands clasped, telling her it’s wonderful to see them again. Francis notes that none of them have changed. Undertaker asks if she thinks so and says it seems that it was just yesterday that she was born. Alexis tells “Ciel” that they have to confront the truth now and “Ciel” apologises for Elizabeth running away. Anastasia says that she told her to go home when she returned again to keep out of danger, but that Elizabeth knows what her values are, just like Alexis and Francis. Francis asks why Ciel assumed “Ciel’s” identity and “Ciel” seems thoughtful. Eden says that no one can be sure, as Ciel is such a mystery, perhaps not even they can figure him out. “Ciel” says he doesn’t wish to press Ciel for reasons, as he thought his position as spare was enviable. “Ciel” then says he will take the family name and title and Francis gets a shock of fear down her spine as Eden smiles menacingly and smugly but stays quiet. Eden says he will request an audience with the queen, but his health should be his top priority in his current state. Francis says she understands and tells them to take good care of him. The family say that they will, and Eden gains a menacing look in her eyes once more, one that Francis doesn’t notice this time.

Anastasia is surprised at the amount of documents on “Ciel’s” table and says that Ciel is really an efficient worker. “Ciel” asks how many servants the past generations employed, and Anastasia reads off a very long list of servants. She suggests the servants they need most direly and Eden asks if she should recruit them for him. “Ciel” accepts that offer and asks Undertaker if he could be a butler, explaining that Anastasia looks after his health and Eden cooks all of their meals. Undertaker dismisses the idea and he asks about Lord Polaris and Lord Vega. Undertaker tells him that they are preparing his supplements and says that they can leave now apart from Anastasia.

“Ciel” along with Eden are performing his duties and Undertaker asks if they should take a break. Eden says that there’s still work to do and “Ciel” asks if he can help, to which Eden says he’s best staying out of their way. “Ciel” laughs slightly when Undertaker visibly takes offense to that and Tanaka asks for “Ciel” to come to the entry hall and he goes there with Anastasia and with Undertaker and Eden following close behind.

The four are greeted by a mountain of toys. “Ciel” asks what this is, and Tanaka explains while Anastasia exclaims that one Bitter Rabbit is double her size and hugs it closely and Eden investigates a doll house and says that Camilla would like this. Anastasia picks up a small Bitter Rabbit and remarks it looks like Margaret Burnett and hugs it to her chest. “Ciel” is elated at his brother’s growth and Eden laughs loudly, scaring “Ciel” and Anastasia and says Ciel acts so fixed on revenge, yet he does this sort of thing calling him a “indecisive child at heart”. “Ciel” says that his brother was planning everything since they were children and says that he’s brilliant. Tanaka asks what should be done with the samples and “Ciel” says that Anastasia can keep the Bitter Rabbit, which Anastasia is pleased about and to move the doll house to the nursery and Eden smiles and says to burn every piece of the liar’s work. Tanaka seems alarmed and asks if they’re sure and “Ciel” says that he is a servant and must do as he says, and Tanaka begrudgingly carries out the task.
